Ahkeel Mestayer is a Doctoral student of Ethnomusicology and active musician in the SF Bay Area. His research and performance are rooted in Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian folkloric genres, embodied histories, performance as history, sonic ontologies, affect and trance, and organology. His field sites include Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States.
